Madrid, 22nd January 2025 – Expansion plans in the Dominican Republic and Madrid are generating excitement at Lopesan Hotel Group's debut at FITUR. The company has announced that work on the second major project in Punta Cana is progressing well, with plans for it to be operational by March 2026. It has also confirmed an 18-month timeframe for the refurbishment of the recently acquired Hotel Miguel Ángel in Madrid.

Professional meetings held during the first day of FITUR with key tour operators, travel agencies and bed banks served to present updates on both initiatives and explore the business opportunities they offer for future collaborations.

“The next two years promise to be an exciting time for the Lopesan Group,” said the Managing Director of the Hotel Division, José Alba, who emphasised the enthusiasm and responsibility surrounding the company's undertakings, “as the success of the Dominican Republic and Madrid projects will help to consolidate the Lopesan Group's reputation on a global scale”.

Having entered Punta Cana in 2019 with the Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino, Lopesan Hotel Group is now poised to open a new complex with 1,036 rooms just five years later, following an investment of 320 million euros. “In the summer of 2026, the Dominican Republic will boast the best themed resort in the Caribbean,” José Alba announced in Madrid.

Water will be a defining feature of this ambitious project, connecting each of its areas with a spectacular lagoon pool, an exciting water park and an artificial cenote set to become one of the area's top tourist attractions.

Dominican Republic as a Benchmark, Madrid as the Future

Lopesan Hotel Group's brand positioning efforts in the Dominican Republic and the remarkable impact achieved in complex markets such as the United States and Canada provide a strong foundation for the start of operations in Madrid and the company's entry into the urban hotel sector.

The recent addition of the Hotel Miguel Ángel to the Lopesan Group's portfolio necessitates a comprehensive refurbishment of the property, involving some of the world's leading interior designers. The aim is to create a project that lives up to the Lopesan seal of quality and positions it as the best hotel in Madrid.

According to the Managing Director of the Lopesan Group's Hotel Division, “the company is in a position to compete with the world's best hotel chains. We recognise that we still have much to learn in developing city hotels, but we have demonstrated our ability to create world-class products”. The Hotel Miguel Ángel will be an asset that enhances Madrid, in partnership with Lopesan Hotel Group.
